Housing studies show that only 34.1 percent of Americans under 35 have bought a home, mostly because they cannot afford to. The millennial population is now occupying more of the affordable housing market than any generation before it.

A new report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition revealed that there are 11.4 million extremely low-income renter households in America (over 25% of all renter households in the country), but a shortage of 7.4 million affordable and available rental homes for those people. This means that for every 100 extremely low-income renter households, there are only 35 affordable and available units.
